SimDec or Simulation Decomposition is a new generation sensitivity analysis solution. It combines the benefits of scenario, uncertainty, and sensitivity analyses.
SimDec helps reveal how inputs, uncertainties, and interactions shape model outcomes, turning complexity into actionable insight.
Our mission is to make sensitivity analysis understandable, efficient, and accessible to everyone working with models and decisions.
SimDec works with a Monte Carlo simulation data. First, it computes variance-based sensitivity indices. Second, it picks up the most influential inputs for a multidimensional data visualization, mapping regions of input space onto the distribution of the output.
By decomposing simulation results, SimDec reveals not only how important different inputs are, but also the shape of their interactions. This insight supports smarter decisions under uncertainty — especially when factors influence outcomes in non-monotonic ways.
Born from academic research in decision science, SimDec has grown into an open-source, multi-platform tool used in engineering, business, environment, and policy studies.
We strive to make it accessible: not only SimDec is available in multiple programming languages, but also via a web no-code dashboard.
SimDec is developed and maintained by an international team of researchers and developers at LUT University and collaborating institutions.
